Gipfel EDS (Electronics Design Services) Ltd develop electronics and power electronics solutions for a wide range of applications across the Automotive, Motorsport, Oil and Gas, Consumer Electronics, and Military industries.  We also specialise in designing DC-DC converters, Off-line converters, Battery chargers, Energy Storage Systems, and Battery Management Systems.

Specialisation:
Our design team have extensive design experience in the following areas:

  • Power Electronics – DCDC converter design.  Including off-line converters, Inverters, battery charging and management, BMS.
  • High speed digital electronics design.
  • Analogue circuit design.
  • Design and debugging for EMC, including EMC pre-compliance testing.  We have our own EMC pre-compliance area which allows us to work on EMC issues locally without having to pay expensive test house daily fees.
  • PCB layout – using Altium Designer.
  • Thermal analysis.
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, (FMEA).
  • Component Failure Analysis, (CFA).
  • Product life-time prediction to SN-29500.  We have a copy of the Siemens Norm SN-29500 and their failure rate data, and can analyse your design and predict life expectancy.  This is based on component stress models and reference conditions, ie, ambient operating temperature, component ratings and operating conditions, etc.
  • Schematic simulation.
  • Detailed schematic design reviews.  We can review your schematics and provide you with an unbiased and detailed report.
  • Field failure and root cause analysis, including mitigation.  
  • PCB assembly prototyping.

We have extensive experience in the consumer electronics, automotive, and defence industry.

Design Analysis:
We can carry out high quality detailed circuit reviews, electrical/electronic testing, and reporting.  Also, in particular, FMEAs, and component failure analysis, thermal analysis under normal operating and single fault conditions, root cause analysis, and field failure analysis. We can also carry out life-time prediction models of your circuitry based on the Siemens SN 29500 norm, which is very useful if you need to ensure a minimum life-time for your product.

Schematic and PCB Layout Design:
We can carry out schematic and PCB layout design work.  This includes all the necessary design documentation, (key design decisions, calculations and component selection), and manufacturing files. We use Altium to generate our designs – see below.

Prototyping and reworking:
We can also build and rework small quantities of production representative prototype PCBAs.
